Oscar Tuazon at the Whitney Biennial07/03/2012
Oscar Tuazon’s For Hire piece has debuted in the Lobby Gallery of the 2012 Whitney Biennial. The site specific piece is a series of rectangular modules created from galvanized steel, acrylic, douglas fir, glass and plastic. "Tuazon’s environment offers a meditation on the materiality of utilized substances and a hint of practical usage via the occasional screen door, parts of an elevator, fluorescent lights, staircases, tile, and a shower." This allows the viewer to reflect on the pieces evolving function. On view from March 1st through to May 27, on the 28th the piece will be reassembled on the fourth floor with the piece reactivated through performance in a subversive fashion presentation by artist K8 Hardy.
