This Is Noise 003: Anthony Valadez29/05/2012
KCRW has stood on the crust of progressive music in the states for sometime, becoming the catalyst and model for which not only public radio but progressive music programming to admire to be. One of those individuals whom continue to carry the flag for the station today, Anthony Valadez, needs no introduction to those familiar with his work. The multi talented DJ curates a highly diverse show that draws influences from Jazz, Soul, Broken Beat, and World Music to an audience eagerly tuned in to his radio show, or one of the many live sets.

The Missing Books23/05/2012
It was in 1943 that Jan Tschichold first suggested the idea of an award to be conferred upon the most beautiful Swiss books that were being published annually. Mysteriously however, only a few years later, there is a gap in the series; in 1946, 1947 and 1948 no books were entered or awarded. This gap and its context served as an interesting starting point for an exhibition series which discussed book making and book design in Switzerland, particularly from that time, but also in contemporary practice.

Verbal is as unique as it gets, whether its music or fashion everyone in Japan knows the name Verbal. If you were one of the very few to get your hands on the highly limited debut from M-Flo you would have realised it was a sign of things to come. Further down the line he worked together with NIGO and the Teriyaki Boys which perhaps gave him the necessary insight into music on a global scale. This balanced together with M-Flo, he has since become a well known figure in clubs all over Japan, DJing along with his wife Yoon, and saying this couple stands out is an understatement.
Heavy Vibrations - A Musical Portrait of South African Youth02/05/2012
Let’s start this off with a bit of a confession: I am a white English writer with South African permanent residency who’s spent the last 15 years living in England, America and here in South Africa. My passion is street culture and everything that comes free with it, and right here right now South Africa is a gold mine for original, fresh-to-death, commercial-free culture, but that may well change in the not-too-distant future.

Tenement Cafe, the brainchild of musician Ino Hidefumi and his wife Hiroki is almost a home away from home. The location of Tenement Cafe, a more traditional part of Ebisu, Tokyo reflects the concept of the cafe while combining this with a more modern edge. The organic, vintage interior design combined with Ino's music playing in the background defines the comfortable atmosphere on both floors of the cafe. In addition to a marvelous menu which is a unique combination of Western and Japanese food, you can easily enjoy peaceful lunch or drinks with friends in the evening.
On Tour With Blouse25/04/2012
In early December I received an unexpected email from my friend Paul Roper, who lives in Portland, Oregon. It said that he would be touring with a band called Blouse through Italy in February, and that he hoped we could meet up. The last time I had seen Paul had been over a year ago when we had very briefly played ping-pong on a snowy night in Dalston, so the prospect excited me. I penciled in a trip to Bologna’s Covo Club, then promptly forgot all about it.

Saunders is a curator, not a curator in the traditional sense, but as the founder and eye behind jjjjound.com he is the new face of how we view content and imagery, how we are inspired and what inspires us. A simple idea, but something that not just anyone could do...this isn't Tumblr or pinterest, this is jjjjound.com. We know Justin has taste so we asked him what he likes to taste for our latest recipe.
